Marvel's Civil War

I ran across this article from another blog. Looks interesting to me, two subjects I am into, comics and politics. Since I am uninterested in the whole House of M thing, this might get me back into Marvelworld a bit more. Since the country is so polarized by bush, it sounds like a great idea to do the same thing in Marvel World. As the cover shows, it's pretty easy to see which side most heroes choose, but Captain America is the interesting one. Side with the government, which you are supposed to represent as propaganda tool, or side with the more liberal and "free" side? Check out

I am Cyclops!

You scored as Cyclops. Cyclops is the team leader of the X-Men,

and a skilled one at that. He loves Jean Grey very much.
He's a strict and sometimes uptight leader,
but he believes in his cause and he knows what he's fighting for...
Peace between Mutants and Humans.

Book of the Week

Justice #4

Obviously, the biggest selling-point of this series is the artwork. It's positively gorgeous, as fans of Alex Ross obviously know. But the story here is pretty good. A bit similar to Grant Morrison's revamping of the JLA a few years ago; the bad guys (luthor, sinestro, bizarro) have concocted a plan to defeat the good guys by doing good things for the less-well off of humanity. While they are "spinning" the facts to the mob, our heroes are being captured and generally whacked by the super-villians.

It's pretty obvious to me that current events/politics are subtly at work here, but it's good stuff. The story really goes to the heart of the superman mythos: if he can do most anything, why doesn't he solve the real world problems. A good question, and I think the authors of this series are going to do a good job answering it.
