Current reads

A quick look at what I'm reading:

Justice (DC)
-Definitely the best comic eye-candy I think I've ever seen. The story, while pretty standard, actually is pretty well done.

Astonishing X-Men (marvel)
-Never really thought I would get into an X-book today. But this title shows what a great writer can do. The art isn't bad, either :)

Ex Machina (DC)
-not for everyone, but the mix of politics and superheroics is very engrossing. Consistently a great read.

Ultimates (marvel)
-like many of these titles, scheduling is not a strong point, but who cares? I would rather wait a extra month or two to get good stuff.

All Star Superman (DC)
-like the X-men comment above, I never thought I would buy a supes book regularly. Again, great writers are the difference.

Captain America (marvel)
-speaking of great writers, this brubaker guy is awesome. I got into him on the Sleeper stuff he started on, and he is a great pick that has returned the Captain to relevancy.

52(DC)
-yeah, I know it's pretty fluffy, at least so far, but I really like the weekly format.

The American Way (Wildstorm/DC)
-a limited series in the vein of Watchmen, with a mix-in of today's politics.

Conan (dark horse)
-with busiek leaving, I may be leaving this one, although want to give truman a fair shake. Regardless, the first 25 issues rate up their with the original Thomas/Smith stuff.

Well, that's pretty much it. One thing I do believe is how much better the quality of today's books are compared to, oh, say 10 years ago. And that makes for one happy comics fan.
