ahh...spring

For some reason, the coming of spring, and especially summer, brings comics to the forefront in my mind. Maybe because that's when I have more time to read them, or whatever. But taking a day to browse at the comic shop and lazily reading a bunch of comics is a great day for me!

Speaking of comics, it is incredible to me what Brubaker has done with Captain America.
Not just the whole "death of cap" thing, which is an incredible, brilliant event on it's own, but the whole series since it was re-started. Cap is a political hero, and only when he's used in the context of politics is he really interesting. I fondly remember the whole nixon/watergate era where cap unmasked the villian and it was pretty obvious that it was nixon. Then he bacame Nomad. Like that storyline, it reverberates with today's headlines. I never envisioned myself reading cap in my adult years. I stopped reading him regularly in my teens. Congrats and thanks to Brubaker for making this happen.

what are you reading?

It's always interesting to hear/see what comics others read. Lately I've been into;

She-Hulk (amazingly, I think this might be the best superhero book out there right now).

Planet Hulk (good stuff)

Action (not a big superman fan, but this is a good storyline).

52 (kind of a gimmick, but a fun one)

Astonishing X-Men (hard to read any other x-books after this run)

Captain America (never thought I would read a cap book again. just shows how important the writer is).

Fell (best non-superhero book out there, although DMZ is close)
